REPORTS AND NEWS ABOUT TOOKIE

- SPEAKING OUT ON KPFA

Yesterday, Stan supporters Cameron Sturdevant and Phil Gasper were interviewed on the Bay Area radio station KPFA about Stan's case, and they did a great job in publicizing the struggle. The interview has lots of information about the case, and also about the upcoming "Save the Peacemaker" rally at San Quentin. This is only the most recent radio show about Stan's case--Barbara Becnel and others have been interviewed numerous times. This is a great idea for activists to follow up. Try to get your local community or campus radio station to report on Stan's case and the struggle to save him.

- MEETING FOR STAN IN GERMANY!

From Michael Schiffmann of the Freedom for Mumia Abu-Jamal group in Heidelberg: Tonight in the English Department of the University of Heidelberg, Germany, we had a successful screening of the film on Tookie "Redemption." Despite the late hour, about 30 students took part and were interested enough to stay for close to 3 hours, listening to the intro,
watching the film and discussing it afterwards. My best greetings to all abolitionists.

The Campaign is producing new button for the Save Tookie struggle-it's white and black and says "SAVE TOOKIE" in big letters. They'll be ready to ship by early next week. - AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL USA ON STAN

From Amnesty International: "California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger should recognize the extraordinary facts in Stanley Williams' case and commute his death sentence. The alternative would be to send the message to gang members around the world that "there are no second chances in the eyes of justice...that in some cases, killing is right."

- SCHWARZENEGGER QUESTIONED ABOUT STAN IN CHINA!

From Bakersfield Online: "On the decision whether to grant clemency to Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the Crips street gang who is scheduled to be executed Dec. 13 in California, Schwarzenegger said he was "dreading" the decision."

- LA OFFICERS AND PROSECUTORS OUT FOR BLOOD

From the Los Angeles Times: "Los Angeles' top law enforcement officers today urged Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to have no mercy for Stanley Tookie Williams, the gang co-founder convicted of four murders who is to be executed Dec. 13... "James Garrett, his wife, Esther, and a man named Samuel Coleman testified that Williams told them he had committed the murders. Years later, Coleman filed a sworn declaration saying that he was severely beaten by police and that he was offered immunity in exchange for testifying against Williams. The Garretts were facing criminal charges at the time and later received probation on those charges... "No physical evidence linked Williams to Owens' murder. The key witness against Williams was Alfred
Coward, who testified that he, Williams and two other men went to the store to rob it and that Williams shot Owens. Coward testified under a grant of immunity from prosecution. He is now in prison in Canada for killing a man during a robbery."
